Thousands turn out for Sanderson Arcade Christmas Lights Switch on event

Crowds turned out in their thousands over the weekend to see the switch on of the magical Christmas lights display at Sanderson Arcade.

There was a huge family event planned around the switch on which was hosted by Heart breakfast radio presenters Justin and Kelly.

X Factor 2016 finalist and local girl Sam Lavery entertained the crowds and helped switch on the Christmas lights with Santa, Mrs Clause and their two elves!

There was also a Santa’s grotto, festive stilt walkers and a special performance from the All Saints School Choir.

The Christmas Market in the market place proved popular with a wide selection of hot food to go stalls and lots of great Christmas gift ideas.

The event which was sponsored by Cookswell Citroen was brought to a close with a spectacular fireworks display!
Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager Joel Plumley said “We have truly welcomed in the festive season this week with a two-day visit from the Coca- Cola truck and now our huge Christmas lights switch on event!”

“We have loved to see everyone getting involved with the Christmas spirit and we have lots of festive entertainment planned for the upcoming weeks including our festive Farmers’ Market on Saturday 2nd December and a visit from real reindeer on Saturday 9th December!”
