Spinning Success for Sanderson Arcade!

15 September 2015

The staff at Sanderson Arcade took to spinning bikes in the Piazza Area on Wednesday 9th September to cycle just under 500 miles in 10 hours to catch up with The Tour of Britain which ended in the area that evening.

The team started at 8am with help from stores such as Marks and Spencer, Crew Clothing, Mountain Warehouse, Vodafone and 02.

Also helping were the Morpeth Rotary Club – led by Rhona Dunn, and a few local school children to give the staff a quick break!

The aim of the event was to raise money for local charity Barnabas Safe and Sound in Morpeth. The project which the Arcade has chosen to support is Stobhill Community Centre, which has been renamed The Barnabas Stobhill Centre.

The fundraising from Sanderson Arcade will be used to help fund and introduce a multimedia zone at the centre which will benefit many groups right across the community and help to transform the building into a community learning hub.

Arcade Centre Manager, Medi Parry also then took the challenge of The Great North Run on Sunday after cycling on the Wednesday, once again to fundraise for the charity.

She said ‘The atmosphere at The Great North run was great and I had fantastic support along the way. For the spinathon on Wednesday we certainly couldn’t have done it without the help from the staff and the stores, they were great and everyone put a huge effort in!’

From the fundraising a total of £655.33 was raised and Sanderson Arcade would like to thank everyone that donated either on the day or through the Virgin Money Giving page.
