Morpeth’s History Under the Spotlight at Sanderson Arcade
18 May 2009
Residents of Morpeth are being invited to share old pictures and stories of their town at an event being held next week.
Morpeth II, the developers behind the Sanderson Arcade development, are holding a Coffee Morning at Costa Coffee on Wednesday May 27th between 10am and 12 noon.
And they’re hoping people will bring along old photographs and stories about their town to share with the company behind the new £32 million development in the town.
The new Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade Deborah Anderson said: “We know there is a rich history here in Morpeth and we want to reflect that by using old photographs of the town in some of the public areas around the Arcade.
“We’d really love to hear from anyone who has pictures and stories they would be happy to share with us and we’re also keen to hear any old stories about the Arcade that people might have. We have heard a rumor that someone famous came to open the arcade in the 60’s when it was remodeled and would love to know more about it. Can anyone help? ”
We would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have old pictures of the original Sanderson Arcade when it was first built or any stories about the shopping centre over the years.
