Morpeth Launches Christmas in Style Next Month

17 October 2022

A festive Christmas market will be held Saturday November 19 and Sunday 20 in Morpeth town centre officially launching Christmas in the town. This event is linked with Morpeth Town Council.

Bridge Street will be closed to traffic and over 40 local producers and crafters will be joining in the town’s festivities.

Street food, live music and even Santa will be making an appearance at the event seeing the return of the popular free Christmas grotto.

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade and organiser of the event, Lottie Thompson, said: “We love Christmas in Morpeth and we’re really looking forward to seeing the town lit up with the beautiful Christmas lights displays as well as welcoming our lovely traders to our festive Christmas market.”

“The Christmas market will host a range of traders selling a huge selection of gift ideas and gourmet treats – perfect for anyone carrying out their Christmas shopping early.

“Our line-up of live music will add to the festive atmosphere and no Christmas event would be complete in Morpeth without a visit to the one and only Santa Claus.”

Traders, Hot wax will be joining us with handmade festive smelling candles, Rola Mor, a popular trader at the Morpeth Food & Drink Festival, will be returning to the town with their handmade artisan sausage rolls and you can expect sweet treats from Studio 28 Patisserie and The Whitley Bay Fudge Company.

Phi Pie and The Gourmet Burger Van are amongst the traders that will be here supplying delicious street food to go and The Northern Bistro will be here with festive coffees and yummy cakes.

The beautiful Christmas tree with the stunning angel wings will be returning to the piazza area of Sanderson Arcade next to the newly installed outdoor seating terrace at Barluga – the perfect spot for a mulled wine and a Christmas selfie with friends, loved ones and family.

And that’s not all, the Christmas Elves and Gingerbread Men will be joining in the fun visiting The Arcade that weekend on Saturday from 2pm – 5pm and Sunday from 11am – 2pm.

The weekend kicks off a full programme of festive markets and free entertainment until Christmas Day including the Morpeth Makers Market which will be held on Saturday November 26, the Festive Farmers Market on Saturday December 3 and a second Christmas Market due to be held Saturday December 10 and Sunday 11.
