KEVI pupil’s town centre painting unveiled at Sanderson Arcade!
22 September 2010
A piece of art completed by talented KEVI pupil Hannah Slater-Patterson has been unveiled at the town’s Sanderson Arcade.
Hannah, aged 15, spent three months working on the impressive artwork which depicts Morpeth town centre. It has now been put in pride of place – greeting visitors and shoppers to the town as they come out of the bus station.
The management at Sanderson Arcade approached KEVI School earlier this year about showcasing some of the school’s talent with the brief of creating a picture of the town which could be displayed at the centre.
Hannah was chosen to work on the project and spent three months perfecting the artwork which can now been seen near the entrance to Austin House, near Yeoman’s.
Her art teacher Jessica Murray said: “With this type of painting it is the attention to detail which makes the difference between average work and outstanding work – Hannah has worked so hard on this and it is just fantastic to see her work displayed in this way.”
Hannah added: “I have really enjoyed working on the painting and it has been a real privilege to take on such a big project.”
Hannah met the mayor of Morpeth Cllr Ken Brown at the artwork unveiling as well as Centre Manager Debbie Anderson. She was presented with £100 of New Look vouchers as a thank you from the company.
Debbie Anderson said: “It’s hard to believe that Hannah is only 15, she is a really talented artist and we are very pleased and proud to have her work displayed here at the Arcade. Morpeth is a beautiful town and Hannah’s painting really does it justice, we’ve already had lots of really lovely comments about it.”
